DIN 1048 RESULTS:

Testing of DRYCRETE Moisture Stop was performed in accordance with DIN 1048 section 7.6.

This permeability test gives a measure of concrete’s resistance against the penetration of water at 28 days after casting specimens. The concrete specimens are exposed to a water pressure of 0.5 N/mm² (72.5 psi or 5 bar) for a period of three days. Specimens are considered failed if water permeates through the opposing surface or through the sides. An example of the testing setup can be seen here.

Immediately after termination of the tests, specimens were cut and measured for the depth of water permeation.

The following images display the visual results of the specimens tested and a brief description is given as to the depth of penetration and if the three specimens for each test passed or failed.

DIN1048

CONTROL SPECIMEN:

The images display the visual results of the specimens tested and a brief description is given as to the depth of penetration and if the three specimens for each test passed or failed.

The control specimen testing had to be stopped after three hours due to water permeating through the sides as seen in the photograph. Specimens were removed at this time and cut to measure the depth of permeation as seen in in the photo

Over three specimens, permeation averaged:

98.425 mm (3.875 inches)

SPECIMEN TREATED WITH DRYCRETE Moisture Stop:

The specimen treated with DRYCRETE Moisture Stop was photographed at the completion of the three day testing period and the specimens were considered passing since water was not found to have permeated the surface opposite the water pressure or through the sides.

The treated specimen were cut for permeation measurement at the completion of the three day testing period.

The three treated specimens were found to have an average water penetration of:

5.461 mm (0.215 inches)

TEST RESULT INTERPRETATION:

  • A comparison of specimens treated with DRYCRETE Moisture Stop and control specimens with no treatment shows a remarkable difference in permeability resistance.

  • DRYCRETE Moisture Stop shows a noticeable improvement in penetrability resistance and ceases complete penetration.

  • DRYCRETE Moisture Stop also shows an improvement in concrete strength with a 17% increase in overall compressive strength of 2500 psi concrete.
