MOISTURE PREVENTION

& MITIGATION SOLUTIONS

DRYCRETE is a unique, precision-blended bio-chemically catalyzed colloidal silica, which penetrates deep into concrete to react with free alkali, and form precipitate (C-S-H), a high density gel-like compound, within the capillary voids.

DRYCRETE is a very effective pozzolan, providing extra strength and durability, as a permanent and insoluble gel.

DRYCRETE is highly successful in mitigating excessive moisture in concrete, and offers a permanent treatment against moisture vapor emissions, as well as positively enhance the physical properties of concrete.

Permanent Moisture Control

HOW DOES DRYCRETE WORK?

DRYCRETE goes into concrete as a unique precision-blended colloidal liquid. It’s internally generated compound or precipitate, is designed to be superior when compared to silicate compounds, as the precipitate's packing density is acutely precise and creates pore networks of exact uniform-sized porosity with pore sizes smaller than free moisture.

As DRYCRETE precipitate is being formed, it involves special ingredients to cause polymer cross linking and branching, encouraging polymer particle and strand connection. This creates very strong polymer chains, which provide the extra strength and durability to truly become permanent and insoluble. Furthermore, the polymer position chain and pore configuration cause DRYCRETE gel compound’s residual water or free moisture to remain in a stretched position with a density similar to that of ice. Under hard freeze conditions, this water or moisture does not expand further to cause freeze-thaw cycle damage, as does the gel compounds of other colloidal silica products.

Silicate products, making similar claims, usually only form shallow, weakly linked short chain gel polymer compounds. They may or may not hold up for an appreciable length of time. They are entirely dependent on the harshness of the concrete installation’s surrounding environment. Plus, there is always the possibility that incomplete gel may migrate back to the surface, creating surface traction problems.

Additionally, DRYCRETE’s low viscosity, allows for greater penetration within the concrete matrix and continued reaction deep within a concrete mass due to its minute particle size. Because of its proprietary composition and unique capabilities, DRYCRETE does not saturate and solidify at the surface as in standard silicate based products, and therefore leaves no surface residual to impede or hinder bonding of any coatings or adhesives.

HOW DOES DRYCRETE BECOME A PERMANENT SOLUTION OVER THE LIFE OF THE CONCRETE?

In its simplest description – DRYCRETE becomes “concrete within concrete”. The increased hydration of the free alkali or un-hydrated cement reduces the internal permeability of the concrete mass. The greater than 90% average permeability reduction results in the stoppage of internal moisture migration to the surface matrix. Existing internal moisture content within the capillary voids at the time of application, acts as a conduit, which facilitates DRYCRETE to reach greater depth, using the existing internal paths of reticulation.

After 24 hours of application, the precipitate turns into a 100% solids gel mass, effectively obstructing moisture migration from the underside of the concrete mass. Additionally, the increased densification of the concrete arrests dusting, and in the process purges and stops efflorescence. Moisture is contained to the surface of the slab, and can only be added from topical intrusion, such as flooding.
